Trekking has always been a integral part of my life. How a quiet paradise turned into a bustling market vibe. i got the details of this trip by one of my close friend and i instantly agreed to visit this place. Oh god the picture of the exotic blue-green waters of Devkund waterfalls posted by a travel company were really amazing , I made up my mind to visit it. It was a perfect gateway to the weekend just a couple of hours trek from the nearest village Bhira would take me to this hidden paradise.
I booked online for the trek that included travel and food and guide charges for me and my friend. The trip would start the following midnight with a one complete day out and will start an early morning trek to the waterfalls. The plan was to meet the gang at pritam dhaba near Dadar station around at 11 pm. our departure was from dadar at 11;50 for bhira base village and the journey was quite amazing with
40 unknown people and it took 3.5hrs to reach the base village. we reached around 4 and took some rest in bus and then freshen up and had a really spicy poha and tea for breakfast and then we few guidelines from the local guides and trip instructor and we started with the trekking. its almost 2.5hrs trekking with all the secenic beauty of river , streams mountains all around. A major part of the trek takes us through lust green forest and with the river running parallel to us while sometimes crisscrossing through our route.Be ready for some mosquito bites so do carry Odomos.
The thing about Devkund falls is that you don’t see it until you actually reach the spot. Much like the Taj Mahal, the magnanimity of the structure hits you only when you cross the arch entrance towards it. BUT you do get a lot of wild lust green forest, small water stream but tough to cross and open field takes you to lusty greenery around the river and waterfall.
Devkund Waterfalls is situated in the wild of great Sahyadris. If you want to see real magic of Mother Nature, then this is the place for you. Hiding inside the dense forest and making it more beautiful with its magnificent heights is the exact description of this waterfalls. There are 3-4 patches where water is poured during the heavy rains and you shouldn’t cross it without a proper safety. So my suggestion is to do this trek in October mostly. This is the best season for this trek.
Sit down on the rocks and just enjoy the scenic beauty of nature
The small 10 min rock patch took me to the heavenly view of the Devkund Waterfalls. WOW!! I was speechless . It was so beautiful and my eyes couldn’t get enough of it. I had explored the Unexplored and as it was beyond my expectation. I sat there at the bottom of the waterfalls and seeing the magnificent beauty. My camera has captured some beautiful clicks of Devkund Waterfalls & beautiful nature.
Its one of the virgin places with crystal clear water and it is said to be the origin of kundalika river. The crystal clear cold and fresh water makes the waterfall unrealistic
After a Photo session , to enjoy the moment I jumped into the Icy-cold water and chilling water took my breath away. It was so much needed after such a long trek. After enjoying in the water for around 2-3hrs, and then headed back to Bhira village around 3 pm. we had our much awaited lunch that was the final highlight of the Sunday at villagers home. The food was exactly what i hoped for rice, dal, roti, spicy vegetables ,salad, and papa served by humble and gracious villages and we . The returning journey took less time because of known routes. This Devkund Waterfalls gave me Some priceless moments of life. Travelers and Trekkers should add this trek into their bucket list.
If you are going with a group then don’t worry about the routes but if you have decided to do this trek with your friends or alone then PLEASE take a guide with you from Bhira Village. Here is the number of local guide(if you needed) :Prakash= +91 87935 32972 and for food: Shelar= +91 72762 83442. guide charges around 100-150 per person and food will cost you 150/ per person. There are so many confusing paths during this trek so please be careful. And it’s a dark forest so if you get lost then you will be in big trouble. There are white arrow indications given on the rocks for the better understanding of route but sometimes you can miss them so be alert with your every step. There are some old houses during the trek trail so remind them to get the better idea of the route.
